New law requires inspections for all residential construction
Starting Sept. 1, state law requires inspections for residential construction in unincorporated areas or in areas not subject to municipal inspections. There are three required inspections: foundation, framing and mechanical systems, and final sign-off. These requirements apply to new construction or qualified remodeling projects that begin on or after Sept. 1. Learn more about the new County Inspection Program at the Texas Residential Construction Commission’s Web site or give me a call. Please remember, that I consult through all phases of new construction from contract negotiations, three individual phase inspections, completion, buyer walk-through and closing. For their protection, I advise all clients purchasing new or resale homes to hire an independent inspector in addition to any mandated inspections. I will be happy to provide a list of inspectors that my clients have used over the years.
